| D S Woodcrafts / da 'PEN' man is Maryland's ORIGINAL producer of pens, pencils, magnifying glasses, letter openers, keyrings, bracelet helpers, desk sets and desk accessories of wood from Maryland's WYE OAK Tree. Each of these items is individually turned and finished by myself, no two will be exactly alike. The wood for these items is mostly from the branches and limbs of the tree since the main trunk (bole) of the tree is being preserved. This wood varies in color from the brown "heartwood" to the lighter, almost white "sapwood", which may contain dark streaks caused by water staining the wood, creating a "marbleized" effect. Due to the age of this tree and its wood there may be some minor defects in the material I use since I am using as much as possible from the pieces that I have. With each item you will be given a card certifying this to be wood from the Original Wye Oak. Also each item will have a 'serial number' and a 'reborn on' date listed on the card. |

Since each piece of wood varies in color, it may not look exactly like the images below. lead time on all items is about 3 weeks unless i have it in stock. years in the small rural town of
Wye Mills, Talbot County,
Maryland. It saw the
colonization of its land, the
American Revolution, the Civil
War, and the growth of the
United States of America
before it succumbed to its age
on June 6, 2002 when its
massive trunk fell during a
severe thunderstorm. It was a
national champion, the largest
white oak tree in the United
States. It measured 31 feet 8
inches in circumference, had
an average crown spread of
119 feet and the main bole of
the tree weighed over 61, 000
pounds. It will live on as it
produced thousands of
offspring's through it acorns,
seedlings, and cloning. The
leaves and wood from this tree
will be used for many objects,
some of which I will be
producing, that will be offered
for sale to the public and for
many State of Maryland
projects to be publicly and
privately displayed.
